2007 January 4-7: Prototype Rails
Held at the Hilton Cocoa Beach, 1550 N Atlantic Ave (Hwy A1A), Cocoa Beach, FL. 800-526-2609 or 321-799-0003. $99 room rate; refer to Prototype Rails.
Preregistration is $35, payable to Prototype Rails. A special dinner on Saturday, Jan 7, for Prototype Rails attendees only will be available for $20/person. Tickets are required and must be purchased no later than Saturday morning. Tickets may be purchased and reserved in advance and included with the cost of registration. The meet consists of around 500 model displays, modular layouts in O, HO, and N scale, around 50 presentations, panel discussions, and manufacturer tables including Branchline, Walthers, Broadway Limited/Precision Scale, Southern Car & Foundry, Westerfield, Funaro, Bob’s Photos, Mainline Photos, Walthers, and Speedwitch Models.
The meet will begin on Thursday, Jan 4, with a dinner at a local restaurant followed by a gathering at my home. Activities at the hotel begin at around 10 AM on Friday, Jan 5, and go until midnight. We begin again on Sat, Jan 6 at 9 AM and go until midnight. We have a dinner at the hotel available to attendees only on Sat evening. On Sunday seven prototype oriented layouts will be open for visits: Ken Farnham's FEC (1970s), Lou Ullian's On3 Logging (1930s), John Shankland's O scale 3 rail CB&Q, Tom Wilson's HO scale P&WV (phone 863-424-7343), Marty Megregian's O scale UP (1950s), John Wilkes' HO scale L&N/Southern Norton, VA (1970s), and Mike Brock's HO scale UP (1954).
There will be two op sessions available on Thursday Jan 5 at Tom Wilson's and Mike Brock's layout. Those wishing to join in a session should indicate their choices in preregistration and make direct contact with the layout owner. Selection will be on a first come basis.

While the theme of the meet is based on understanding and modeling prototype railroad items, we also will have presentations on many other aspects of railroading including general operations, passenger car operations, scenery including modeling water, structure modeling, weathering techniques and many other subjects that pertain to modeling fictitious railroads. The primary goal is to have fun... and we do.

2008 Early Fall TBD: Possum Tracks LDSIG/OPSIG Event
The Piedmont Division of the NMRA is sponsoring the South's first LDSIG/OPSIG event here in Atlanta! Planning and Operating Scale Systems Used in Modeling, or POSSUM, is only one of many successful events sponsored by the Piedmont Division which can be seen at www.piedmont-div.org.
